Good hygiene is key to improving oral health and maintaining healthy teeth. Here are 5 oral hygiene tips to help you look after your teeth.

Brush Regularly

Scientists recommend to brush at least twice a day. It’s even better if your brush after taking a meal. Don’t just use any kind of brush. Instead, choose a toothbrush with a small head and small bristles. This ensures you get better access to your back teeth and reduce the risk of hurting your gums when brushing. Also, you should brush thoroughly for at least two minutes.

Floss Daily

Flossing is as important as brushing when it comes to maintaining oral health. Like brushing, this activity should be done properly to ensure you reach between the teeth and remove food particles stuck there. This allows you to keep the area between your teeth clean, stimulate the gums, and reduce the risk of teeth infection.

Use Mouthwash

Mouthwash can access where toothbrushes and floss can’t reach. They are effective in getting rid of debris in the mouth that can irritate the gum and cause infection. You should regularly use mouthwash to clean up your teeth even when you’re travelling.

Drink Water

Water is one of the best beverage for improving body health including oral health. Scientists recommend drinking water after every meal. This helps in washing out sticky food particles and acidic debris from foods and beverages.

Visit your dentist for regular check-ups

Last but not least, it’s essential to visit your dentist to assess your oral health as well as identify hidden dental problems whose symptoms you might not be feeling at the moment but could experience in the future.
