Digital Dental X-Ray
A digital dental X-ray is the starting point for almost every treatment plan at Arrow Dental Centre. Using a small intraoral sensor in place of traditional film, we capture a clear image of your teeth, roots and supporting bone in seconds, with the image appearing instantly on screen for your dentist to review with you.
Digital sensors use less radiation than traditional film X-rays, and the images can be zoomed in, enhanced and stored securely in your patient file — so your dentist can track changes to your teeth and bone over time.
When You’ll Need One
A dental X-ray helps your dentist see what’s happening beneath the surface — areas a visual exam alone can’t reach. It’s typically used for:
- Detecting cavities between teeth or beneath existing fillings
- Checking for bone loss around the gums
- Assessing impacted or unerupted teeth, including wisdom teeth
- Planning root canal treatment
- Reviewing the position of teeth before braces or aligners
- Routine check-ups, to catch problems early
