Tooth Cap Treatments Tailored for Your Smile

What is a dental crown?

Do you have cracked, broken, or worn-down teeth? Are you self-conscious about teeth discoloration or weak teeth that need extra support? These common dental issues can affect your ability to eat comfortably, your self-esteem, and even your overall health.

Fortunately, dental crowns also known as teeth caps are an effective solution to these issues. They are custom-made covers placed over your existing teeth to restore their functionality and improve their appearance. Crowns can be made from a wide variety of durable materials to suit individual needs and preferences.

Teeth cap can rebuild damaged teeth (repair teeth with cracks, breaks or extensive wear and tear), strengthen weak teeth (support and protect teeth from further damage) and conceal imperfections (create a uniform, natural-looking shade for stained teeth). At Arrow Dental Center, we have experienced cosmetic dentists who will work closely with you to ensure your crowns achieve optimal results, leaving you with a healthy, confident smile.

Precision Digital Impressions

Digital scanning captures your tooth in 3D for a crown that fits perfectly the first time.

Who it’s for

Do You Need a Dental Crown?

Crowns protect and restore teeth that fillings alone can’t save. Here are the most common situations.

After a Root Canal

Root-treated teeth become brittle and need a crown to protect against fracture. Especially important for molars or wisdom teeth.

  • Prevents tooth breakage
  • Restores chewing strength
  • Long-lasting protection

Cracked or Broken Teeth

Teeth severely damaged by injury, grinding, or a large old filling reinforced and rebuilt with a custom crown.

  • Preserves the tooth
  • Alternative to extraction
  • Natural appearance

Cosmetic Improvement

Discoloured, misshapen, or worn out teeth transformed with dental crowns for a full aesthetic restoration.

  • Complete smile makeover
  • Natural colour match
  • Long-lasting result

Why choose a crown

Why You Shouldn’t Delay Getting a Tooth Crown

Crowns save teeth that would otherwise need extraction, restoring both function and appearance for years to come.

Strengthens a weak tooth

Covers and reinforces a tooth that has been weakened by decay, cracks, or large fillings, protecting it against fracture and preventing further damage.

Restores full function

With a crown in place, you can bite, chew, and enjoy your meals normally again, without worrying about sensitivity or discomfort when using the tooth.

Natural appearance

Crowns are colour‑matched to blend seamlessly with your surrounding teeth, giving you a restoration that looks natural and keeps your smile attractive.

Long-lasting

When cared for properly with good oral hygiene and regular dental visits, crowns can last 10–15 years or even longer, making them a durable investment

Preserves your natural tooth

Instead of removing the tooth entirely, a crown allows the root and healthy structure to remain in place, maintaining stability

Improves your bite

A well‑designed crown restores proper alignment and balance to your bite, reducing strain on surrounding teeth and supporting overall oral function.

Your options

Crown materials to suit every need

Different crown materials suit different teeth and budgets. We recommend the best option based on the tooth’s position and your priorities.
  • Porcelain‑Fused‑to‑Metal (PFM): A strong and affordable choice, PFM crowns combine a durable metal base with a porcelain exterior for a natural look. They are especially popular for back teeth where chewing forces are greatest, offering a balance of strength and aesthetics.
  • All‑Ceramic Crown : Made entirely of ceramic, these crowns are metal‑free and provide the most natural appearance. They are ideal for front teeth where aesthetics matter most, blending seamlessly with surrounding teeth while still offering reliable durability.
  • Zirconia Crown: The strongest ceramic option available, zirconia crowns are extremely durable and resistant to wear. They are perfect for patients who grind their teeth or need extra reinforcement, while still maintaining a natural tooth‑like appearance.

Common questions

Crown FAQs

What is a dental crown?
A crown is a custom-made cap that covers a damaged tooth, restoring its strength, shape, and appearance. Crowns are used after root canals, on cracked teeth, or to improve cosmetic appearance.
How much does a dental crown cost in Kenya?
Crowns start from Ksh 26,000. A consultation includes the assessment and treatment plan.
Will my crown look natural?
Yes. Modern crowns are colour-matched to your surrounding teeth and shaped to look just like your natural tooth. Most patients can’t tell which one is the crown.
How long does the crown procedure take?
Crowns are usually completed in two visits over two to three weeks. The first prepares the tooth and takes an impression; the second fits the crown.
Is getting a crown painful?
No. The procedure is done under local anaesthetic and is comfortable throughout. You may notice mild sensitivity for a few days while you adjust.
How long does a crown last?
A well-cared-for crown lasts 10 to 15 years on average, often much longer. Good brushing, flossing, and routine cleanings are essential.
Will my teeth look whiter after a cleaning?
A routine cleaning removes surface staining from tea, coffee, and tobacco, so teeth often look noticeably brighter. For deeper whitening, we offer professional teeth whitening as a separate procedure.
How long does is the crown placement procedure?
The process usually involves two appointments. The first appointment involves oral diagnosis, tooth preparation and taking an impression. A temporary crown is placed while your permanent crown based on the impression is being created at our digital centre. The second appointment involves fitting and securely cementing the permanent crown.
