What changes the price of a crown?

  • The material. A crown milled from imported zirconia on a digital scanner is a different product from an acrylic crown made from a putty impression, even though both are called a crown. Ask what you are being quoted for.
  • What the tooth needs first. A tooth may need a root canal or a core build-up before it can hold a crown.
  • How many crowns. Several crowns are planned together, which affects the total.

Does SHA or insurance pay for crowns?

Crowns count as major procedures, which SHA may partly cover for civil servants when medically necessary. Crowns placed purely for appearance are typically not covered. See how SHA works.
