Does SHA cover dental treatment in Kenya?

At Arrow Dental, SHA is accepted for civil servants only, under the Public Officers Medical Scheme Fund (POMSF). Other SHA members pay for treatment themselves or use private insurance. For civil servants, preventive and basic dental care is generally covered in full. Major procedures may be partly covered when they are medically necessary, and purely cosmetic treatment is typically not covered. SHA benefit schedules change, so we confirm what applies to your case at the consultation rather than promising it in advance.

What if you are a civil servant?

Arrow Dental accepts SHA only under the Public Officers Medical Scheme Fund (POMSF), which gives civil servants enhanced dental cover beyond the standard Taifa Care limits. Basic care such as cleanings and fillings is fully covered. Major treatment draws on your standard SHIF limits first, then your enhanced benefits. We handle the pre-authorisation at reception.

What do you need to bring?

Bring your SHA details to your appointment, and we handle the pre-authorisation on your behalf. There is no out-of-pocket cost for covered procedures. If part of your plan is not covered, we tell you the amount before treatment starts.
